Severe Airplane Turbulence Rises Due to Climate Change

A study from the University of Reading has found that clear air turbulence experienced by flights over the North Atlantic has increased by about 17% from 1979 to 2020, marking yet another potential impact of climate change. Moderate-or-greater clear air turbulence increased by 37% and severe-or-greater turbulence saw a 55% upsurge. Increases were also notable in other regions including the US, Europe, Middle East, and the South Atlantic.
