Domestic Cats: A Threat to 2000 Species Worldwide

Cats, being obligate carnivores and efficient predators, are implicated in the deaths of around [2,000 animal species](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-42766-6) worldwide, notably impacting bird populations with 981 prey species recorded. This predation has led to the extinction of species such as the Australian white-footed rabbit rat and the [Hawaiian crow](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaiian_crow).
