Ditching Fossil Fuels Reduced Deaths by 16% Since 2005

A study from The Lancet Countdown reveals that over 200,000 premature deaths have been prevented globally due to the reduction of carbon emissions. From 2005 to 2020, deaths related to PM2.5 particles from fossil fuels decreased from approximately 1.43 million to 1.21 million. The study, which was released on 15th November 2023, involved 114 scientists and health professionals from 52 institutions.
