Afghan Female Suicides Surge Post-Taliban Takeover

Since the Taliban regained control in Afghanistan, women's and girls' rights have been severely restricted, [leading to a spike in depression and suicides](https://theweek.com/health/afghanistan-female-suicides-problem?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_content=theweek&utm_campaign=socialflow). Educational opportunities for girls are cut off beyond the sixth grade while women are barred from most public life.
